The Role UrtheCast Will Play in Education
Much like the first Cosmonauts and Astronauts who saw Earth for the first time from space, students and educators using UrtheCast will gain a new perspective on our world. In addition to partnering with schools and universities around the world, UrtheCast will support educational instruction and student development around the world.
The UrtheCast web platform will allow students to track countries around the world, bringing us all closer together while at the same time, providing insight and awareness into various events from around the globe.
UrtheCast will support greater environmental awareness among students of all ages, whether in school or not.
Our cameras will generate an enormous amount of high-resolution imagery of planet Earth in all its natural glory and uncover in a unique way the expansion of deserts, forest growth and deforestation, environmental damage, and natural disasters.
UrtheCast will foster greater awareness of international events.
People will have access to current video footage from all over the world, enabling them to view the migration of elk in the Canadian Rockies, 2012 Summer Olympic events, protests in the Middle East, floods in the Indian sub-continent, and hurricanes in the Gulf Coast, the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, and iceberg calving off of Greenland.
UrtheCast will encourage a deeper sense of global citizenship and engagement.
News organizations will be able to access recent video footage of international sporting events, environmental disasters such as the earthquake in Japan and floods in Pakistan, and other newsworthy events. Students will observe such events from a vantage point, and with an immediacy, that has to date never been possible.
