UrtheCast Does SXSW: Day Two in Pictures

Tuesday, March 13th, 2012

Recreating an amazing moment is hard. As any performer will tell you, the toughest part of a stellar performance is the next time you walk onto that stage. The same is true when you begin to make a splash at the start of a week-long conference like SXSW.

Head of Product, Matt Boyd, walks a SXSW attendee through a platform demonstration.

How does a company outperform itself throughout the duration of a SXSW stint? It’s all about frequency of messaging, consistency, and the reinforcement of a singular idea.

Case in point: putting cameras in space to provide an HD video platform of Earth to the world… for free.

It’s an idea that we’re hammering home at SXSW and one that’s causing people to “mob” our booth (in the words of some of our team members). App developers in particular have been quick to latch on to the UrtheCast concept, leading us to imagine the myriad ways that developers will use UrtheCast’s open-source platform once they get their hands on it.

This morning, UrtheCast Head of Product, Matt Boyd, gave a talk at SXSW’s BUILT series of ‘talks by people who create’, which featured 11 speakers talking about repurposing technology. It was an exciting moment for a team that’s been eager to get the word out about UrtheCast, now that the first stage of Alpha One is complete.

Later today, at 4PM PST / 6PM CST, the UrtheCast team will be hanging out on Ustream to give us an update on SXSW and answer any questions you may have about the platform. Last week was a resounding success, with tons of amazing questions from inquiring minds across the globe. Perhaps you’ve got one or two up your sleeve?

Also on the list for the team today: the Media Temple Closing Party, and an improv comedy event at Esther’s Follies. No word yet whether the team will be taking part, but if they do, we’ll get our hands on that video. Promise.
