Everything Stays in Vegas, Except UrtheView

Yes, not everything stays in Vegas. Especially not for the UrtheCast team, which has descended upon Sin City to spread the news about our competition, UrtheView, that’s launching at the AUVSI Unmanned Systems Conference.
During the conference, which spans August 6-9, UrtheCast will outline competition details for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) enthusiasts. Conference-goers will also have the chance to take the newest demo version of UrtheCast’s platform for a spin (zoom, pan, and scroll).
Crowdsourcing Video of Earth
UrtheCast is calling on all citizens across the globe to help amp up its footage of Earth − from cities, to seas, forests, and beyond. This footage gathered for the UrtheView competition will be used in the beta version of the Earth video platform before the UrtheCast cameras are launched to the ISS in 2013.
Come One, Come All
Two back-to-back UrtheView competitions will welcome video captured from both amateur and professional videographers, using everything from helium balloons and DIY drones, to helicopters and tall buildings — you name it. Once competitors have submitted their best footage, you’ll take the reigns by voting for the best entries! Once everyone’s done casting their votes online, finalists will be judged by UrtheCast’s internal imagery specialists.
Help Cast the Globe
Like UrtheCast’s space imagery, this crowdsourced video data can be integrated with tweets, photos, news, etc. within the beta platform. Not only will videographers help us cast the globe, they’ll also be eligible to earn a variety of monetary and non-monetary prizes, including two cool Parrot AR drones!
Are you a budding videographer or seasoned pro? Already know all about the competition’s terms and conditions? If you’re ready to signup, head here to help us craft the story of Earth.

If you weren't able to tune in to Eric Bieller's live Ustream chat yesterday from Vegas, you can catch it here. (And see some demo footage in action!)
